how do you clean fish poop…does syphoning harm the carpet plants ?
July 13th, 2009 - 11:45 pm
With a heavily planted tank you don’t need to syphon the gravel. The plants will use the fish waste as extra fertiliser and will use it all up.
If there is any gunk settled on top of the plants (it can look ugly) you just wave the syphon above the plants and remove the gunk without disturbing the plants or gravel.

In their other video (for a simple planted tank) they show you how to do it - they run a hose very, very gently into the tank, on top of the rocks rather than on top of the gravel.
Personally I use a plate.

Tropica is a plant growing company that sells their plants to the public. So their plants didn’t cost them anything! They are so lucky because the rest of us have to pay for ours!
